WHY SCOOP?

There are many very common diseases that can be passed on to dogs, cats,and people through feces. These include giardia, roundworms, salmonella, ringworm, and Ecolli. The eggs of these parasites can remain in the soil for years. To boot, your pet can spread or contract parvovirus or coronavirus through feces. All of these diseases are very serious, and every effort should be made by pet owners to keep their pets and family away from feces. Children run the greatest risk because they're prone to play in the grass or dirt then put their hands in their mouth, rub their eyes with their hands or run barefoot through your yards or parks. But adults who enjoy walking barefoot through their yards or parks, or play sports game are in danger. Parasitic infections can make humans extremely sick. It can also pose a serious risk to unborn child in pregnant women.

It doesn't take a P.h.D. to realize that dog poop is nasty. But it took science to find out exactly how nasty it is. From mutt to blue-blooded champion, all dogs harbor so-called coliform bacteria, which live in the gut. Some of the ways a dog or cat can obtain various different parasites, viruses, and bacteria from their own poop include: rollong in their feces, pawing at it, and in rare instances, even eating it.

Dog poop waste is environmentislly unsafe.

Dog poop is an environmental pollutant. In the mid 1990s, scientest perfected methods for tracking the origin of nasty bacteria in streams and seawater. This research led straight to the dog; and to the owners who dont pick up after them. At some beaches, dogs help raise the bacteria levels so high that visitors had to stay out of the water.

A place called Stevenson Creek, in Clearwater, Fla. Residents were worried that a sewage treatment plant contaminated the creek. But when researches tested the water, they found out that dogs, along with a leaky septic tank and wild birds, were to blame for the high bacteria counts. Dog feces probably washed out if the yards by the creek, researchers say.

Boise River in Boise.The river suffers from high bacteria levels that make it unsuitable for swimming. Testing of streams and drainpipes flowing onto the river showed, that in urban areas, dogs were the culprit.

Dog poop is NOT a good fertilizer. Dog and cat waste is incredibly hazardous. As a matter of fact, it is by definition labeled as "hazardous waste" by most environmental agencys. Dog feces should not be used on your lawns or gardens to achieve fertilizer like results.
